Transformation of the Day: Monique lost 83 pounds. During the pandemic, she was forced to slow down and used the extra time to focus on health and wellness. She found success with a medically supervised program that her doctors suggested.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My health was not good, but I was too busy to stop and work on my health. Due to the pandemic, I was forced to slow down and used that time to work on my health. I took advantage of virtual office visits and saw all the doctors and health professionals suggested. What motivated me to keep going was the improvement I saw in my health.
How did you change your eating habits?
I did a program through my doctors called Ideal Protein. It is a very strict diet where they tell you precisely what you can and can not eat. They provide meals, weekly video coaching, and you have weekly check-ins. There were lots of restrictions-No dairy, no sugars, and no alcohol. You only eat the food they supply and the foods listed on a one-sheet guide that lists the foods you can eat for dinner.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
Unfortunately, I did not work out at all. I was advised to at least walk 22 minutes a day, but I did not.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 248 pounds, and my current weight is 165 pounds.
What is your height?
5 feet, 2 inches tall
When did you start your journey?
Oct 26, 2020
How long did your transformation take?
7 1/2 months
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, it is not.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that when I’m determined to do something, I can. I also learned that changing your habits has lots of benefits.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
You can do it if you are determined. Also, you need to be healthy to be there for your family. So putting yourself and your health first is very important. You can’t be there for others if you’re not good.
