Transformation of the Day: Monica lost 97 pounds by working out, being patient, and going Vegan. For her, this journey is not just about physical changes. She has transformed mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
What was your motivation?
This journey has never been just physical for me. I felt trapped. I was losing control of who I was. It wasn’t until I was willing to start my fitness journey that I realized what God had already placed on the inside of me.
Fitness is a great teacher. This journey has unveiled parts of myself that I never knew existed. This journey is a real healing process. It takes out the things that don’t belong. Then, it molds you into an immaculate masterpiece.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What inspired me to keep going was that this journey helped me find myself and regain control of my life. I felt that if I stopped, I would lose control of who I was again. For me, this journey was mental, emotional, and spiritual as well. It was and still is a healing process.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by going completely Vegan due to me having Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) (a chronic skin condition. It’s caused by inflammation and infection of the sweat glands). I would only indulge in one cheat meal a week.
How often did you workout? What did your workout routine consist of?
Previously, I would work out two times a week. Now, I work out four times a week. My workouts consisted of cardio, HIIT, and weight training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 244 pounds, and my current weight is 147 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’2″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
My journey started in August 2018, and I reached my desired weight in November 2019.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery wasn’t part of my journey.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice to women would be to persevere, be consistent and be patient during the process. Remember to take this journey one step at a time. Celebrate the little losses as much as the big ones.
Be present in every session, and you will learn a lot about yourself. Enjoy discovering the new you. Also, please don’t compare yourself to anyone. Your journey will look different from the next person’s journey.

That is great! You look fantastic by the way, very beautiful and inspiring. I have HS too, did you have many outbreaks before your journey and have they all gone away since going vegan or do you still have a few?
