Update April 2020: Shout out to Monica. She lost 4 more pounds.
HW: 247 pounds
CW” 190 pounds as of 3/26/2020
GW: 135 lbs to 145 lbs
Transformation of the Day: Monica lost 38 pounds and 13 inches from her waist. She wanted to adopt a healthier lifestyle because her weight was affecting her health. Keto and Intermittent Fasting gave her the results she was looking for.
Motivation: My name is Monica, and I am 35 years old. Earlier this year, my doctor told me that I need to start a healthy lifestyle, as far as eating right and being more active. Ironically, before that visit, I had already made up my mind to change my lifestyle. She was simply reinforcing what I already knew I needed to do. Also, my weight was affecting my health, so that put even more fire under me.
When did you start?: I didn’t find my stride with my journey until September, but I started in February.
Eating Habits and Exercise: I first gave up fruity drinks that are filled with sugar. I also gave up meat for eight months, but I was still eating quite a few carbs. I did not start working out until June. I started slowly with 30 minutes a day, and my workouts were mostly walking. I lost about 10 pounds in eight months.
Although giving up meat was ok, I wanted to make a more significant change. That’s when I found Keto and Intermittent Fasting. I started Keto in September, and it’s been the best thing for me.
Now, I work out 3 to 4 days a week for at least 45 minutes to an hour.
Starting Weight/Current Weight: When I started, I weighed around 232 pounds. [Highest weight: 247] I now weigh 194 pounds at 5’4″. I have lost 13 inches around my waist. I went from wearing a size 18/20 in jeans to a size 12. I have about 60 more pounds that I am going to lose.
Biggest Lesson: I have learned that I am so much stronger than I give myself credit for. I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.
Advice: I say to anyone who is trying to lose weight, remember that it’s a marathon, not a sprint. It’s going to take time, so be patient. As long as you are consistent, change will happen. One more thing… The scale can be your worst enemy at times, so take measurements and plenty of pictures. I still have a long way to go, but I am so determined to reach my goal.
