Transformation of the Day: Mona lost 52 pounds and several dress sizes. She started this journey because she was tired of being in pain all the time and getting out of breath while taking the stairs. With her son in mind, she transitioned from junk food to Keto meals, started working out, and learned that the body achieves what the mind believes.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
When I started my weight loss journey on December 14, 2021. I wasn’t really sure if I was going to stick with it this time around. One thing for sure, I was tired of walking around with my knees hurting for no reason. I was tired of my back hurting after standing for a long period of time or getting out of breath while walking up and down stairs.
I have a 6-year-old son who needs me to be around. Seeing the results that I have achieved is what has kept me going. I wore a size 20 in pants and a 2x in shirts. Now I wear a size 14 in pants and a med/large in shirts. I have never been this size in my adult life, and I’m not going back!
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits changed tremendously! I went from eating restaurant and junk food every day to once a week, which I consider a cheat meal. I started with Factor Keto Meals. I purchase six keto meals weekly, chicken or turkey only. On the seventh day, I have one cheat meal. I order lots of different keto snacks from Amazon. I also fast daily from 8 pm to 2 pm the next day. My last meal is usually no later than 7: 30 pm.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I do a lot of walking at work. I can only go to the gym two days a week, and those are usually on my off days. I work out for two hours when I do go to the gym. I do a lot of weight training and 30 minutes of cardio on both days.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting was 290 pounds. My current weight is 238 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’7″.
How long did your transformation take?
My transformation has taken three months.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, and weight loss surgery is not in my future. I decided to go another route and started using a prescription drug called Ozempic, which helps suppress my appetite.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned this time around is to keep going. Some days you’ll be motivated, and some days you won’t. Just keep going! The body achieves what the mind believes. Staying positive has helped me a lot.
What advice do you hold for women who want to lose weight?
My advice for any woman wanting to lose weight is to do what makes you happy but be honest with yourself. Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, “I’M POSSIBLE!”
Stay encouraged and do what works for you. Don’t let no social media fitness models discourage you. Replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.
