Transformation of the Day: Mide lost 86 pounds/39kg. Since childhood, she has been dieting and trying to lose weight. Eventually, she got fed up with the weight loss rollercoaster. At the end of 2019, she decided to focus on creating a healthier lifestyle through exercise and eating a balanced diet that includes all food groups.
I remember struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember. At 12 years old, I was buying Weight Watchers meals and trying to find ways to drop some pounds. I was always the biggest in my class, the biggest in my friendship groups, and the biggest child in the family. To be honest, I was tired of it.
Every year I tried something new to lose some weight, including skipping meals, juicing, meal replacement shakes, and low carb diets. You name it, and I’ve tried it! In the beginning, the diets would be great. I would always lose some weight, but I gained it all back plus more when I returned to normal eating.
At the end of 2019, I reviewed all my goals, and I realized that I was smashing my work goals, but not quite hitting my personal goals for weight loss. I decided that 2020 would be the year that I would do something I had never done before: eat a healthy balanced diet while incorporating all food groups and exercise.
I knew that I needed extra support to stay motivated, so I contacted @extramilefitness, who has been my personal trainer for the last seven months. Nothing feels as good as being fit, loving yourself, and being confident in your own skin. I’m strong and healthy.
What was your motivation?
Weight loss is the hardest thing I have ever done but what kept me motivated was how incredible weight loss made me feel.
Who did you change your eating habits?
I haven’t stopped eating anything! I have just decided to change my lifestyle. I eat smaller portions, and I’m still incorporating all food groups. Yes, even carbs! I love vegetables and salads.
Every week I have a meal (not a day) where I eat a meal of my choice, which goes from a pizza to a burger and chips.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I worked out 4-5days a week doing cardio and resistance training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My start weight was 22stone/139kg/306 pounds. Now I weight 15 stone 10/ /100kg/220pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 6’1″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that the journey will never be perfect. You will fall, but just get back up and keep going.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I want everyone to know that it is genuinely possible to lose weight. You don’t have to live in a body you don’t want to be in and increase your health risks.
