Transformation of the Day: Michele lost 37 pounds with Keto. With her children and her future in mind, she made her health a priority. She was only able to do low impact workouts due to a bulged disc in her back, but she still achieved these great results.
What was your motivation?
On Mother’s Day 2019, my mom posted a pic of me, and I cried. I couldn’t believe that I, once a college basketball player, had allowed myself to become unrecognizable. I had a back injury in late 2018 that left me immobile for almost two months. All I could do was eat the wrong foods.
After seeing that picture of me was all the motivation I needed. When I wanted to give up, I kept that picture in mind, and I thought about my kids. I wanted to extend my days as much as I could. I also wanted to try to offset some of my health issues.
How did you change your eating habits?
I began to incorporate Keto into my lifestyle. The goal of Keto is to trick your body into burning fat instead of carbohydrates. So the carbs, starches, bread, and sugar had to go! I started seeing results, and it became easier to give up the foods I loved.
What did your workout routine consist of?
Initially, I couldn’t work out because I have a lower lumbar bulged disc. However, once I started losing weight, I could do a few modified, low impact workouts. Now I do those workouts 4/5 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 223 pounds. My current weight is 186 pounds. My goal weight is 170 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’7″.
How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey the day after Mother’s Day 2019. It’s been a year of conscious eating.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to stop all the excuses and quit being so hard on myself. The race isn’t given to the swift but to those who ENDURE until the end!
What advice would you like to share with people who want to lose weight?
This is a journey. There will be ups and downs. The scale isn’t that important, especially with Keto, because it focuses on inches lost rather than weight. You really have to keep your mind on the prize!
- Track your macros! Listen to your body.
- If you’re not hungry, DONT EAT. (I don’t eat until my stomach growls).
- Drink plenty of water.
- Get a good night of sleep. That’s when your body is breaking down all of the day’s food, so give it time to do just that.
