Transformation of the Day: Mercedes lost 52 pounds. When her weight began to hinder her from doing basic things like walking to her car or climbing steps, she knew it was time to take action. Now, she is addicted to the results she’s getting, and she’s in love with the gym. Check out her story.
My name is Mercedes, and so far I have lost 52 pounds! My starting weight was 315 pounds, and now I weigh 263 pounds (I’m 5’10”).
I was so overweight that I had a hard time with normal daily activities, such as bathing, walking to my car, climbing steps, etc. So, I decided to start working out in March 2018.
I do not believe in diets because they suck! However, I definitely eat less food. I cut out fast food, soda, juice, and candy.
As far as exercise, I work out 5-6 days a week doing 45 minutes of cardio and about one hour of weight lifting. I rotate each workout day between leg day and upper body day.
Now, I am addicted to the gym! People have to understand that going to the gym is not just a temporary change. It is a complete lifestyle change. You will have to go to the gym just like you go to work. I’ve learned that just because you’re skinny, that does not mean you’re in shape. At the same time, just because you’re thick, it doesn’t mean you’re not in shape! I’m thick, and I can run for 30-45 minutes straight at full speed.
I am still considered overweight, but I’m glad I’m not as overweight as I was before. I do not have a specific weight loss goal. I’m just trying to get healthy. I don’t have any kids and surgery was NOT an option for me… All natural!
What inspired me not to give up and to keep going? It was the fact that I started seeing results. I got addicted to the results I was seeing. I thought if I kept going, I could lose even more weight! However, I don’t weigh myself often because I don’t want to get caught up in the whole scale thing. I weigh myself every couple of months.
If you want to lose weight the 1st step is to put your mind to it. Anybody can do it if I can!
