Meme lost 50 pounds. After her son was born, she fell into depression and comfort eating. Since 2016, she has worked out consistently, embraced a low-carb lifestyle, and reached out to her doctor for help.
My name is Meme, and I am 28 years old. After I had my son, I fell into a bad depression and didn’t know it. So I turned to food for comfort and to get away from everything over the years.
At church, I started to get criticized for my weight and how I dressed. I let my health take a toll because I felt lonely over the years. Then one day, I decided enough is enough.
I’ve tried many diets that did not work until I joined a weight loss program and changed my diet. I started following a personal trainer on Instagram and worked out as hard as I could every day.
In the middle picture, I don’t remember what my size is. In the photo on the left, I’m 300 pounds or more. In the picture on the right, I’m down to 250 pounds and continuing to lose weight and become healthy while dealing with my anxiety and depression.
I went to the doctor to talk about a breast reduction, but she said I needed to lose more weight. So she put me on a prescription weight loss pill with another pill to help with my craving. She also signed me up for weight loss surgery, but now I’m below the max weight to even qualify for the surgery. I was 291 pounds then, and now I’m 250 lbs. and still going down.
How did you change your eating habits? What did your workout routine consist of?
I started doing Keto, and that kind of worked but not really. Then I tried a cleanse and lost inches and began following a personal trainer on Instagram. I worked out every day and even did his challenges (ass and abs, squad challenge, etc.)
The meals I’ve eaten are the Lean Cuisine and Atkins Keto meals (protein shakes, snacks, ice cream, etc.) Yes, it may be expensive, but the food has less than 1 gram of sugar in it. I also use a calorie tracker called My Net Diary and log everything I eat.
What is your height?
I am about 5’5″ or 5’6″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
From when I began to try different diets until now, I would say it’s been a couple of years (from 2016 until now). I’ve been on weight loss meds for about six months, and it’s preventing me from gaining weight.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned from all of this is don’t lose yourself for someone at all. Also, it’s okay if you have your moments of slipping up. I have, but I have always gotten back on track.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Don’t give up if you come across many diets that don’t work. Also, talk with your doctor.
