Update: Shout out to Melody! She’s lost more than 100 pounds.
Transformation of the Day: Melody lost 96 pounds. She realized that she had to commit to permanent change to get lasting results. Intense cardio, weight training and low carb, high fat Keto eating has helped her to transform this year. Check out her story.
I began my journey 5 years ago. I lost weight two years after having my son. Then, I gained it all back because my choices were temporary instead of being lifestyle choices. You see, my mind was not right. During my journey, I opened up a fitness studio which led to other business opportunities, but once again I set myself aside while cheering on others.
As that business eventually lead me to other endeavors, I realized it was time to change my mindset so that I could make a permanent change in my life. No more temporary moves. No more yoyo diets and No more blaming my circumstances. It was time to make lasting changes. These changes would include 80% of my diet and 10% of my workout routine. You see, I never had an issue working out. It was my nutrition that was extremely poor. Once I began to change my thinking and started living the lifestyle I was preaching to others, I began to see drastic changes. I even inspired my 16 year old twins to get healthier.
Motivation: What motivated me to lose weight was being tired of feeling trapped in my own body and not living in my truth. My kids inspired me every time I felt like throwing in the towel. Besides my social media following, I did not want to disappoint my kids.
I started this journey in March 2016 and I dropped 96 pounds in 10 months. I’m still pushing to lose 35-45 more pounds. My highest weight was 289.9 lbs with a 52 inch waistline. I now weigh 194 lbs with a 36 inch waistline. (height: 5’5″)My new lifestyle has prepared me for the next level in my journey and that goal is to gain the opportunity to compete in many NPC shows. Your body can accomplish anything, but it’s your mind that has to want it.
Eating Habits: To begin, I went home and decided to throw out all the foods that were self sabotaging and bad in my home. Once my mind was made up, change had to happen right away! I immediately stopped eating processed foods and foods that were junk! I began to eat a more clean diet, but still did not notice any real change. After a month or two of eating clean, I decided to shock my body. I began reading about the Ketogenic diet and Keto success stories. During my first month on Keto I loss 22 pounds, versus the 8 pounds I was losing just eating clean. Plus, the foods were very tasty. I also ate within my macros which was very key. My diet consisted of 75% fat, 5% carbs, and 20% protein. I stopped eating meat with hormones and meat treated with antibiotics. I ate grass fed beef and organic chicken. I learned to pay attention to my sugar intake and read labels.
Exercise: My workouts consisted of HIIT Cardio in the morning, doing 30 minutes of fasted cardio. Then, on to round two in the gym with weight training. Initially, I was only working out three days a week. My new lifestyle requires me to workout daily, even if it’s only for 30 minutes.
Advice: Stay strong. This journey is more mental then physical. The stronger your mind is, the stronger your body will become! The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be true to yourself. If you don’t face the problem that put you in your current situation, you will never succeed.

Thanks for sharing this is so inspirational and enlightening. I never considered the possibility that weight loss is all mental and not physical… I have a new perspective on my weight loss efforts and I plan to be successful this time. I am mentally prepared and will not accept defeat from ANYONE including MYSELF!!!!!
