Transformation of the Day: Melody lost 75 pounds. She was in a deep depression, but she thought exercise and healthier eating habits could help her to refocus. Going low carb, cutting out red meat and walking worked for her. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going during the tough times?
I was tired of looking in the mirror and not feeling good about myself. I was in a deep depression and needed something to focus on. Working out and changing my eating habits seemed like the best thing for me to do. Seeing and feeling my results is what kept me inspired.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started with a low carb, low-calorie diet, which consisted of little to no carbs. I cut out sweets, pasta, bread, and rice. No red meat and I strictly drank only water.
What was your workout routine?
I walked on the treadmill at the gym for an hour to an hour and a half four times a week.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 260 pounds, and my current weight is 185 pounds. I am 5’4″.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started my weight loss journey in December of 2018, so it has taken me about 5 months to get to where I am currently.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I didn’t have any surgery. I just changed my diet and incorporated exercise into my routine. (…which is something that I hated btw, but it really worked for me.)
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I have learned that I can do anything if I set my mind to it. I never really took weight loss seriously. I never believed in myself enough to see a diet all the way through, but something in me just clicked this time, and I stuck with it.
What advice would you like to share?
My advice to others is stick with it, create a plan for yourself and follow through with it. Nothing comes easy, but if you stay consistent, the change will come. I promise. If I can do it, anyone can trust the process.
