Update: As of Nov 2016, she’s lost 120 pounds.
We featured Meka’s story back in March 2014. At that time she’d dropped 51 pounds. She sent in an update to let us know that she stayed on her journey and has lost an additional 49 pounds for a total of 100 lbs GONE!
Hey guys! Long time, no see! I hope you don’t mind I would love to update you all about my weight loss. I’ve almost hit the 100 lb mark starting at 249 as of today I am now 149 which was my 2nd goal! Next is my maintenance goal weight of 135 pounds, only 15 pounds to go! This has taken me 9 months so far.
My weight loss has been such an emotional roller coaster, from stress to anxiety to depression. I can say I’ve been through the storm with this weight loss journey but the strength of God is all I needed to continue! I recently transferred for school this past August. Even though I kept my workouts up, my eating slipped bad and my old binge eating habits kicked back into gear. The next thing I knew I had put on 10 pounds. I quickly learned that weight loss is DEFINITELY more diet than exercise. Even though they are a match made in heaven, a dirty diet will KILL ANY workout. It took about a month to clean up my diet, but once I did the pounds began melting off again!
Now, I’m knocking on the 140’s and it feels way too good! Prayer has been a HUGE key to my weight loss success. Whenever I began doubting myself all I do is pray for reassurance that I am strong enough to do this and I get up and do it! As I mentioned in my initial story, the Insanity workouts have been what changed my life and I still do them to this day! At first I ate, drank, and slept cardio. Now weight training is the love of my life. I still do 30 minutes of cardio but I bang out 45 min to an hour of weight training 4-5 times a week. I use to stay active 6 days a week religiously in the beginning of my journey, now especially since I juggling school and work 4 days a week suites me perfectly!
I am so blessed and thankful about my journey. Being overweight was all I knew so my journey has shown me that anything is possible! To anyone looking to tackle this journey, I would say if you are a believer, pray, pray, pray, with God all things are possible! Also, clean your diet up little by little. You will have more success with being healthy when you have a clean diet and add a little exercise. It will not work if you are trying to kill yourself in the gym and you have a dirty diet. All you will do is frustrate yourself. Make life easier and just clean up your diet, drink your water, and stay active. TRUST me, you can’t trick your body into losing weight. You have to do it right if you want it to stay off! This is very possible so leave the excuses at the door! Be blessed, you guys!

Good job. When you replace cold water with hot it works wonders.. When ever you are thirsty nstead of drinking cold water you drink hot and you hit a target of 2 ltrs per day…
