What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 310 pounds and my current weight is 249 pounds. I am 5’4 1/2″ tall. My transformation has been such a success every week. I have been making gains. I don’t just focus on what the scale reads, because I have been losing inches too. I started out wearing a 24/26 dress size. Now, I am down to a size 18 (almost in a size 16).
When did you start your journey?
I began my journey about 3 1/2 months ago, on July 3rd, 2017. Before I began my journey, I was leaning heavy towards surgery. I even started going through the process last year to have the Gastric Sleeve done. If I’d gone through with it, my surgery would have taken place this year in April. However, I was too afraid to go through with surgery. That’s when I decided to give the Terry Starks, aka The Diet Doctor, a try. He guaranteed that if I tried his program I would lose the weight and inches without having surgery and taking diet pills. (Not saying there’s anything wrong with it. To each their own.) I tried him and now look at me.
What was your motivation?
My motivation throughout my entire journey has been my children.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
The daily messages and weekly phone calls I received from my Coach Terry Starks.
How did you change your eating habits?
I began eating 5 meals per day in smaller portion sizes. I stopped eating fast food every day and cut out bread. I also stopped going back for thirds and filling my plate with double portions. (Now that I write this out and really think about it, when I would make those three plates they would always be overpacked with food.) I started eating fresh green vegetables, salads, squash, brown rice and baked fish. I drank nothing but water with every meal and throughout the day.
What did your work out routine look like?
When I work out, I would always do cardio on the elliptical, treadmill or cycle. I would go for a jog at the track as well. I worked out 7 days a week, 30 minutes per day.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I didn’t gain the weight overnight or in 3 months, therefore it’s going to take time. I just have to be consistent.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
Have a great support team behind you. When making this lifestyle change it begins in the mind first. Therefore it’s imperative that you change your mind in order to save your life. All great things take time. Never give up!
