Transformation of the Day: Maria lost 63 pounds. When this mom of 2 was a professional dancer and college cheerleader, weight wasn’t an issue. However, after she was diagnosed with MS and had half of her thyroid removed, she experienced weight gain. She changed her lifestyle and her eating habits to get results.
As a former professional dancer and college cheerleader, I never had a weight issue. Even after the birth of my children, I was fortunate to lose all of the baby weight and more with ease. Then, life hit me. Within 2 years, I had half of my thyroid removed and was diagnosed with MS. Both of these life changing events left me sick and sedentary. Despite all this, I had 2 baby girls that I had to take care of and bills that still had to be paid, so I took a lower paying but less stressful job.
I jumpstarted my metabolism by going into a weight management program, several actually, until I found a program that worked wonders for me. I changed my eating habits and began eating clean. I found that once I started eating clean, eating garbage literally would make me sick. I also became an herbalist using natural herbs and supplements. (Burdock Root and Chromium are 2 of my favorites.)
My weight has bounced around over the last several years, but I never ever reached my heaviest again, which was close to 200 pounds. That’s a lot of weight when you’re 5’3″ tall. My 63 pound weight loss took about 7 months, spending only about 3 months at the weight loss clinic. I joined a gym though admit that I’m not as consistent as I would like.
I think that the best advice I can give, and the studies support it, is that you have to make a lifestyle change and change your eating habits. Cutting out sodas, candy and ice cream alone can make a tremendous difference. Also, I drink a lot of water and green tea. Try not to eat to fill a void and don’t get freaked out when your weight bounces up and down a few pounds. Just get back on track and try not to sweat the small stuff. Leave the “sweating” for the gym! Peace and love, my sisters! YOU CAN DO THIS!

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been going through some health problems that left be unable to walk at times. Recently I have been walking and now up to at least two miles three times a week. In the past two months I have lost almost 13 pounds. My goal weight is 155, which is a little over 40 more pounds. Thanks for the motivation. Great job!
