Transformation of the Day: Malika lost 70 pounds. Becoming a Pescatarian, cutting carbs and making a commitment to workout has paid off. She learned that she has the power to change her life and that settling is not an option. Check out her journey.
My name is Malika and I lost 70 pounds in less than a year. I literally had to get rid of bad habits and toxic people to get to this point. I’m now a Pescatarian (A vegetarian who eats seafood), and I train with my trainer a few times a week.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was that I was the biggest one out of all my friends.
What kept you from giving up during the tough times?
Seeing results and getting positive feedback from others kept me going.
How did you change your eating habits?
5 months ago, I decided to take meat out of my diet. Not only is it healthier, but I wanted to challenge myself to give something up that hindered me in the past. I definitely cut back on carbs as well. I might eat a little carbs on the weekend but I don’t eat carbs at all during the week. I also meal prep my meals for the week. My favorite thing to eat is baked salmon.
What did your workout routine look like?
I started by doing a lot of cardio. After the first 50 pounds came off, I finally hired a personal trainer. Now, I’m lifting weights and toning up. I work out 3 days a week with my trainer and I do cardio 3 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 275 pounds and my current weight is 205 pounds.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in March 2017.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson learned was that you have the power to change and you don’t have to stay where you are in any aspect in life.
What advice would you share with other women who want to lose weight?
My advice is to other women is to just stay consistent and trust the process. You have the power to transform in all aspects. You don’t have to settle.
