Transformation of the Day: Malea lost 42 pounds. She was tired of feeling self-conscious, and she hated going shopping because she kept having to go up a size. By embracing the Keto lifestyle, walking for exercise, focusing on her Why, she has transformed.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I wanted to not be self-conscious when I spoke to people or took pictures. When I was smaller, I used to be the one to jump into every photo. As I started to gain weight, I began to be the one who insisted on TAKING the photo, so I wouldn’t have to be in them. I would take showers in the dark, so I didn’t have to see myself in the mirror. My drive came from wanting to change all of that.
What kept me going was a desire to be content with myself alone. It’s easy to be happy around people, but when you’re alone, the walls and your insecurities close in on you a little faster.
How did you change your eating habits?
I fully embraced the Keto lifestyle-no carbs, no sugar, no starches, and no fruit. I would also only eating between the hours of 2 pm and 8 pm. This usually only meant eating once a day or having one large Keto meal and a protein shake.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
Since we were quarantined, I used what God gave me (my legs, lol) and walked around my neighborhood daily for 3-4 miles.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 190 pounds, and my current weight is 148 pounds.
What is your height?
5’2″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I’ve been on the keto lifestyle consistently for four months now. I got serious in June 2020, and I’ve continued to the present day (40lbs lost in 4 months).
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Nope, too broke for that, LOL!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Even though people may mock your journey, your restraint, and your limitations, you have to make YOU proud at the end of it. When you lose the weight, they’ll be asking you for advice, lol.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Figure out your “Why” – Why you want to lose weight. (As cliche’ as that may sound) You “Why?” has to mean more to you than pizza night, bottomless mimosas at brunch, or eating donuts in the breakroom with coworkers.
My “Why” was to fall back in love with fashion and shopping. I began to hate shopping due to not being able to fit many things in my closet anymore or having to go up a size when I went shopping. During your journey, you may experience a lack of support from people you thought would support you. However, YOU have to be your own motivation..
