Transformation of the Day: Mahogani lost 115 pounds. This beautiful plus size model wanted to not only look great in clothing but feel healthy and fit. She truly put in the work in term of clean eating and exercise. Check out how she transformed her body.
Being a plus size model, I wanted to look fabulous in any garment I modeled. What motivated me when I wanted to give up was thinking about a swimsuit I had recently tried on that was not appealing to my eyes.
My eating habits changed tremendously. In the beginning, I only wanted veggies and grilled foods. I also began to minimizing my food portions, I cut out many fried foods and increased my water intake.
I cut out all sweet drinks. No soda or Kool-aid. No fried food, pasta, rice or frozen processed food. I practiced clean eating and had lots of fresh vegetables and chicken breast. Everything was baked or grilled and I stopped eating after 7pm. Breakfast I would eat any fruit (grapefruit mostly). For lunch, I would do a big fruit salad. Dinner would usually be a grilled chicken salad or any vegetables I craved. If I needed a snack it would be a granola bar or a fruit smoothie. I would sometimes want banana pudding, so I satisfied that craving, but only on Sundays.
I did calorie counting as well and kept my calorie intake under 1,200. If I ate a total of 800 calories throughout the day, I would hit the gym and do cardio (Elliptical &/or Treadmill). My goal with my workout was to burn that 800 + 100.
I started working out once a daily. I did mostly cardio in the beginning. My workouts went from once a day to 2 times a day. I worked out 6 days a week, twice a day. I did everything cardio, group classes, weight training and the elliptical machine! I love the elliptical. I could do it for an hour and still have energy to do 15-20 mins on the treadmill! I used the sauna as well. Outside of the gym, I enjoyed walking at the park. Some mornings, instead of the gym, I would walk for an hour at the park.
My starting weight was 340 pounds. I’m current weigh 225 pounds and still dropping! I’m 5’8″ tall. I’ve been on this diet off and on for 2 years. I started in September 2014, I’m still on the same schedule. My goal is to reach 200 lbs. I’m determined to get there.
It wasn’t easy. The struggle was real! I had my days where I wanted to give up! Honestly I did, but my motivation to get it back together was wanting to be healthy and wanting to look great on the runway!
To succeed, you have to be consistent and persistent. Know your goal and make the necessary adjustments to achieve it. Failure was never an option!
