Update June 2018: Shout out to Lornece. She reached her goal of losing 30 pounds and has gone from a size 14 to a size 4.
How have you maintained your weight loss/continued to lose weight?
I watch what I eat and what time. As well as my portion sizes.
At this point, would you offer any new or different advice to other people who want to lose weight?
Be patient with yourself. What works for you might not work others. Your only in competition with youself!! Stay positive, stay focused and stay motivated.
Lornece lost 20 pounds and several dress sizes in 5 months. A year after giving birth and having 2 hernia repair surgeries, this mom of 3 decided that it was time to get back to her pre-pregnancy shape. Check out her story.
I gave birth to my little guy via emergency c-section on August 23, 2016. By August 4, 2017, after having my 2nd hernia repair surgery, I decided it was time to kick this body back into pre-pregnancy shape! From August 4, 2017 to December 22, 2017 I went from a size 14 to size 7 and lost 20 pounds.
What was your motivation?
My wife and I went through partner assisted production IVF. Using her egg and my body, we had our son. As I noted above… After having him, I needed 2 hernia repair surgeries. I also gained weight on top of my pregnancy weight. Once our son turned one year old, it was time to lose weight.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My health was in danger. It was very important that I was able to help care for our young son and our other 2 children.
How did you change your eating habits?
I transitioned from Pescatarian to Vegan. (I ate A LOT of meat during the pregnancy) I stopped eating dairy or drinking milk. Used the 17 Day Diet and substituted the meat for alternatives.
What did your workout routine look like?
I did not workout until 3 months in the journey due to my second hernia repair surgery. After the 3 months was over, I did 30 day challenges.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 175 pounds and my current weight is 155 pounds. My height is 5’3″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Bouncing back after having a baby in my late 30’s is hard, but very doable.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
To new moms that are having their first child or third, I would say it takes time, but it is possible.
