God bless her. I too had the surgery in 2003. I lost 120lbs. My highest weight was 320lbs and my lowest was 194lbs.. I maintain around 200 but I never reached my ideal weight @ 180. After losing my only brother to violence. I gained any 20 –
25lbs due to medication. But overall. I kept off the 100lbs…thanking God every day…

So proud of what you have achieved. I am a biracial female whose weight is 445. I had my 1stappt with my weight loss surgeron yesterday. My insurance requires 6 appointments. I also have a bone on bone left knee that requires knee replacement so getting the weight off is a MUst. I am just unsure how to start but will get this done. Any suggestions are appreciated.

It is a LIFESTYLE change. I did everything I could before surgery to prepare including losing weight before surgery. the day of surgery I was 362lbs I started walking for exercise, I started changing my mind frame and giving up the Sodas, chips etc preparing me for this journey. Prayed, and had to tune out everyone and their opinions and truly go for this for ME! What are your hardest struggles? address what type of eater are you if emotional find out the key things that trigger it and take steps to change that first. before jumping into surgery.. Identify what foods you crave and find healthier alternatives. When you see the dietian they will tell you start eating and preparing yourself as if you have already had the surgery. BEST OF BLESSINGS TO YOU! I PRAY IT ALL TURNS WELL FOR YOU!

Linda says
My prayers are with you! I would say start going to the informational meetings, go to support groups see a nutritionist and get some counseling to prepare you to take this journey. HOWEVER remember the surgery is a tool IT IS YOU THAT CONTROLS THE OUTCOME! become active now change the way you eat, and your way of thinking! It will get better.
Best of blessings to you!

I’m so happy for u i too myself is getting the surgery my heaviest weight is 323 I’ve also been trying to conceive for the past five years due to my weight I have irregular periods I wanna change my lifestyle and really be happy
Linda says
The first step you have already taken which is speaking that you WANT TO CHANGE! Now the power is in you.. first step is to mentally change your mindset and prepare for a lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise and positive thinking. The surgery should only be used as a tool if you try to lose weight naturally and all fails. I would recommend speaking to a nutritionist first and see if you can lose the weight by changing your eating and exercise habits. before going right into a surgery. Best of blessings to you and I PRAY that GOD gives you the desires of your heart and blesses you with a beautiful angel..

Reading all the responses have really inspired me to do what I have to do to be fit. I currently weigh 308 pounds and have slowly watched my weigh increase over time. No more! I have my consultation for weight lost surgery next month. I am ready for big changes in my life.

Congrats on both journeys…..I had the bypass done in 2008. My highest weight was 517 at one time I was about 490 the day of surgery. I lost over 250 lbs and then 2 years later gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Then in 2012 I had the tummy tuck done only to find out shortly after the surgery that I was pregnant with my baby boy. My son is almost 3 months nd I’m still working on losing the weight he put on me. But even with those few pounds I’m still not where I started and I still have my life health and strength which is what it was all about for me. So to all of you preparing for or thinking about having the procedure done, I wish you the best.

I am so inspired and proud of you and everyone on here. I am trying to lose w/o surgery which I need to lose at least 100. It takes commitment and dedication. I know some who had surgery then gained the weight back, lost motivation. Keep on keeping on.

You are such an inspiration! I had the lapband placed in October. Primarily to be healthy, but, also because I want babies of my own. I was diagnosed with PCOS so losing weight will be beneficial to finally having babies. Thanks for giving me something to look forward too.
