Transformation of the Day: Lawanda lost 54 pounds this year. She began her journey after seeing a photo of herself, and not recognizing who she was looking at. She worked out regularly and conquered overeating and emotional eating.
I recently lost 54 pounds after seeing a picture of myself and not recognizing who I was looking at. I was always using the excuse that I was meant to be the biggest person in the group. I joined Weight Watchers and worked out every single day. I never missed a workout. After five months, I realized I had changed my mindset and lifestyle.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I kept this BEFORE picture in my phone, on my refrigerator, and on my bathroom mirror so I could remain focused on what I was working towards. I also kept my daughter in the forefront of my mind to keep me motivated.
How did you change your eating habits?
Weight Watchers taught me to first pay attention to what I was eating and putting in my body. It also taught me to pay attention to myself and how I felt when I was overeating. Once I began to dial-in to the fact that I was an emotional eater, I could make changes and eat smaller, more filling portions.
What did your workout routine consist of?
When I started working out, I simply walked for 30 minutes every morning. As the weight began to drop off, I started jogging. Then, I started running and doing a strength training workout every day, focusing on a different body part each day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 225 pounds, and my current weight is 171 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in January 2020 and reached my goal weight in July.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery, all-natural weight loss.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that I can do hard things. My mind is powerful, and I can make any change I want.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Just START! You don’t have to start big. Just start once you have made the decision to do it.
