Lauren lost 60+ pounds. She learned that patience and consistency are the keys to a healthy lifestyle. Intermittent fasting, cutting out junk food, and working out six days a week worked for her. Check out her story.
2018 was the year I finally let go of all my excuses and got to work. I was at
my highest weight of 186 pounds. Being only 5 feet tall, this was a big problem. All the women in my immediate family have diabetes, so I knew I had to do something before I joined them. I remember dreading my yearly checkups because I knew I was at an unhealthy weight.
When you walk around carrying so much extra weight, life is just
uncomfortable. Activities that were normal for other people were just
awkward for me.
I started my journey in August 2008. Honestly, I stopped weighing myself months ago because pictures and my clothes tell such a better story than the scale. Most of all, you can see how much happier and healthier I am. However, the best thing about this journey is that I’ve learned how important self-care and self-love are. I’m never looking back!
Eating Habits and Exercise: I’ve lost 60+ pounds through18:6 intermittent fasting and exercise. IF schedule: My eating window is between 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. I fast for 16 hours and have an eating window of 8 hours. I cut out junk food (as much as possible) and began eating lots of lean protein and vegetables.
I work out six days a week by combining cardio and strength training. I use a resistance band when I do squats to help shape my lower body.
Biggest Lesson: The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that patience and consistency are the keys to a healthy lifestyle. There will be times that you fall off or don’t feel motivated, but you will see results if you keep it up. Trusting the process every step of the way is what keeps me going.
Advice: Set small, realistic goals and work on them in increments. Also, don’t solely rely on the scale to track your progress. Pictures and how your clothes feel will tell a much better and more complete story.
