Transformation of the Day: LaTrece lost 18 pounds and lots of inches. While going through a divorce, graduating from college, and being a single mom she lost herself. She shared with us how she has taken her life back with healthy food and exercise.
What was your motivation?
My journey started a little over a year ago. I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize me. At that moment, I knew I’d lost myself somewhere between being a mom, a wife, and a student. I’d lost myself somewhere between going through a divorce, graduating, and being a single mom.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by eating less red meat. I incorporated protein shakes for breakfast and ate protein bars after my workout.
Tell us about your workout routine.
At the beginning of my journey, I did Zumba 2 times per week. Then, I incorporated a 5am boot camp (HIIT) twice a week. Next, I took a hula hoop/step class once a week. Basically, I worked out 4-5 times per week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started my journey at 203 pounds. Now, I weigh 185 pounds. My height is 5′, 4 1/2″. (Yes, the half counts. Lol) I’ve made a promise to myself to keep going and growing. Through the pain, fear, sweat, and tears. I will not give up!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I learned is that I am stronger than I knew and that my journey is my journey everyone cannot or does not want to be part of it.
What advice would you like to share with other women who want to release the weight?
For other women who want to lose weight, I would say, when you start this journey it will be complicated, emotions will rise that you never expected, it may scare you, but keep going. Find a group of like-minded women it will make accountability and your journey easier.
