Transformation of the Day: Lashanda lost 28 pounds. This journey taught her how to stay true to herself and the power of self-love. She focused on meal prepping and eating very nutritious meals. She also committed to working out at home with an online fitness program and running at Stone Mountain.
My name is Lashanda B., and I am 47 years young.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was me. I am my biggest critic, and I did not like how I looked or felt.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating out and started meal prepping. I started eating an avocado and two boiled eggs for breakfast. I had a smoothie for lunch (I prepared it with ginger roots, lemon, honey, assorted fruits, and apple cider vinegar). For dinner, I ate grilled or baked salmon, chicken, or lamb with vegetables and all sorts of beans (kidney, lima, black eye peas, etc.). I always loved to drink water, so I started drinking a gallon a day. This was a process, and I did it for about two months.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I started walking and added cardio at home but was not getting the results I needed to reach my goal. Then, one day, I was searching the web and came across a gym that Cam Newton was visiting, Effect Fitness LLC, (1995b Metropolitan Pkwy SW, Atlanta, GA). I started doing their virtual classes online at home around March 2021. Since then, I have been an active member working out six days a week; 5:30 am boot camp Monday-Friday, and 8 am & 10 am boot camp on Saturday. On Sundays, I would run Stone Mountain (5.178 miles around).
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 160 pounds, and my current weight is 132 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’2″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in February 2021. My transformation took about seven months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned thus far is staying true to myself and loving myself. #meseason
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice to women who want to lose weight: Take all the weighing scales out of your home. That one pair of jeans that you have been dying to wear but are way too small, that’s your scale.
