Transformation of the Day: Laryah lost 55 pounds. She used portion control and a plant-based diet to get results. Weight training and Zumba were also part of her plan. Check out her story.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came from becoming the person I knew I could be. I knew the ending of my testimony would be great!
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My inspiration was seeing myself in shape and being free mentally. Whenever I felt like giving up, I told myself it won’t always be like this.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started by using portion control. Then, I became aware of the effects that meat can have on your body, so I cut out meat and ate plant-based meals.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My workout routine included lots of strength training. I also love to dance, so I attended Zumba classes for my cardio. I worked out 4-5 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 275 pounds, and my current weight is 220 pounds. My height is 5’4″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey consistently in 2017, and it took about 1 year.
What is the biggest lesson you learned?
Throughout my weight loss journey, I have learned so much. The main thing I learned is to love myself. Once you master loving yourself, you will push beyond every obstacle that comes your way and tries to stop you from seeing the finish line. I can’t lie, so many times I have fallen, but I got back up. Never let the fall keep you down. Use it as fuel to keep going to get to your next level!
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
Love yourself. That’s the key ingredient. Once you love yourself, you will do whatever it takes to take care of self. Loving yourself will allow you to put you first, and achieve goals that are necessary for your mental happiness and physical happiness! Don’t be bound to weight. There is so much freedom behind all those layers. Get up, make the change and be the change.
