Update: Larethia lost 170 pounds. God, her children, and her career in Nursing are what motivates her. During her journey, she learned not to compare her journey to anyone else’s. She had RNY gastric bypass in 2017 and changed her lifestyle.
What was your motivation?
My weight loss motivation was God, my children, and my career as a nurse.
When did you start your journey?
My journey started in 2013, and it continues. It’s been seven years of fighting, but with God’s grace, I’m still here to fight!
What inspired you to keep going, even when you felt like giving up?
What inspired me when I wanted to give up was the reason “Why” I started in the first place—progress, not perfection. My motto was winners never quit, and quitters never win.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started to focus on low carb and high protein diet. I had to make bread, soda, fast food, etc. a thing of the past, but it wasn’t easy.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I backslid for a few years. I began at 330 pounds and got down to 230 pounds with diet and exercise. After the constant struggle, I regained some weight and went back to 270 pounds. So, I had RNY gastric bypass in 2017 and went from 270 pounds to 160-165 pounds.
What does your workout routine consist of?
I work out at home or at the gym 4-5 times a week. I do cardio and full-body exercises such as squats, mountain climbers, planks, plank jacks, etc. I’m also getting into weight training.
What is your height?
I’m 5’7″.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson learned is to believe in yourself and not compare your journey to anyone else’s. Speak life and not death!
