When did you start your journey?
I became motivated in 2009 to start working on myself. My mother passed away in 2008, and I was going through a very devastating divorce. I turned to eating as a source of comfort but quickly began to pay for that decision.
I signed up for Boot Camp and where I worked out for four years. It was very effective, but I still wasn’t losing the weight like I needed to. I finally realized what my problem was: Nutrition!
I decided to join an Intermittent Fasting page on Facebook, and my journey began.
What is your intermitting fasting routine?
IF has different plans. I do the 16:8 plan. For the most part, I follow a healthy diet. However, I still eat what I want but in moderation. I have been fasting for over two years now, and it has shrunk my stomach to where I cannot eat as much as I used to.
Tell us about your workout routine.
My workouts consist of cardio and light weights. My trainer alternates days for both (Ex. Monday is Cardio, Tuesday is Light Weights, Wednesday is Cardio, etc.) I also enjoy walking when the weather permits.
Starting weight/Current weight
My highest weight was 240 pounds. I am currently 180 pounds. Intermittent Fasting and working out at the gym five days a week with my personal trainer has been very successful for me.
I had a Tummy Tuck done in 2019 because my frame was decreasing, but my stomach was not. In addition, I had a lot of loose skin that was beginning to give me lower back problems, so I chose to have it removed.
How long did your journey take?
Overall, my journey has taken me nine years to achieve my goals.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned that healthy eating habits are essential.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
A very helpful tip/approach: Weight loss is about your mindset, so you have to block out any and all negative energy. Distractions will surely stunt your progress. I wish all of you ladies the best and hope that my story can be of some inspiration to you.
