Transformation of the Day: Lanita lost 67 pounds. This mom of two was tired of years and years of her weight yo-yo-ing up and down. As she was about to turn 30, she decided to figure out what habits would bring her long term results. Check out her transformation.
When did you start your journey?
I started years ago. I struggled with weight loss after having two kids. I lost weight with my first kid and gained it right back with my second. My journey has been nothing less than a great big yo-yo. My weight has gone up and down over the years.
At 29 years old, I told myself that I didn’t want to look like this. I was so unhappy. I was turning 30 and decided I need to do this for me. I’m 32 years old now, and to this very day, I still struggle.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My highest weight was 223 pounds. I’m happy to say that I now weigh 156 pounds and moving. I would say this is the smallest I’ve been since I started this journey.
What is your motivation?
My husband and kids are my motivation. I hated what I saw in the mirror, so that was a source of motivation as well. Even when I wanted to give up, I heard my son in the back of my head saying, “Have fun at the gym mommy and to never give up like you always taught me.”
How did you change your eating habits?
I’ve done all kinds of diets before. Of course, I’ve starved myself and workout extremely hard in the past, but all that did was cause me to gain the weight right back. The only one that really worked for me was eating 3oz of lean meat and 3oz of veggies (no rice). I only transitioned back into eating rice after six months in. In that same six months, I stopped drinking alcohol. I also cut out all the food that didn’t work within the 3oz of lean meat and veggies meal. I won’t lie, I had a cheat meal (not day) here and there because I love fried chicken and chips. OMG, that’s my weakness.
What is your workout routine?
I workout at about 3-4 times a week and do 30 minutes of HIIT training once a week.
What lessons have you learned on this journey?
I’ve learned about my body and about the things that work for me. I’ve learned that everyone can’t diet and train the same. It took me some time, but I figured it out. I have also discovered my triggers and not to feed into them. Food is my weakness, and my husband is a fantastic cook.
What advice would you like to share?
To give advice is to get advice. Do what is best for you and don’t let no one tell you different.
Hope that I can inspire and find a work out partner who needs to be encouraged just like me. (I live in the Queens, NY area).
