Transformation of the Day: La Tasha lost 31 pounds. Being diagnosed with diabetes was her turning point. She didn’t want to be put on insulin, so she found the will to change, and focused on improving her eating habits. Check out her story.
What was your motivation?
My motivation to lose weight began long before I became a diabetic. My son went to basic training. I wanted to surprise him when he came back by losing more weight than I had already lost before he left. However, I eventually gained it back.
What inspired you to restart your journey?
I was inspired to change when I became a diabetic. I didn’t want to have to take insulin. I also wanted to look better in my clothes. I knew if I lost weight in the past, I could do it again. Being diagnosed as a diabetic gave me the willpower I needed.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cutting back on sweets and sodas. I started eating more fruits and vegetables. I stopped trying to eat late at night. If I found myself feeling hungry, I had some fruit.
What did your workout routine look like?
Honestly, I did not work out at all. I just changed my eating habits. Just imagine if I had been working out… I would have lost a lot more weight.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 230 pounds. Now, I weigh 199 pounds. I have not been under 200 pounds in over 7 years, so this has motivated me even more. My height is 5’6″
How long did your journey take?
I started in January 2017. My journey took 6 months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that water is very important on your weight loss journey.
What advice would you share with other people who want to lose weight?
My advice for others: Learn to eat healthy and cut back on junk food. Your best friend should be lots of water.
