Transformation of the Day: Kween lost 63 pounds. After having her fifth child, she was determined to get fit and look great naked. Her husband is a personal trainer, so she followed his advice and created an exercise tool to give herself more flexibility as a busy mom. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My biggest motivation was ME. I am my motivation because I have done everything I set my mind to expect to eat right more than wrong. I’m determined to get to my goal weight and maintain.
I want to be as sexy as I could be as a woman and more so as a wife. I want to be eternally attractive to my husband. Yes, I have children, and I have had to lose over 70 pounds three different times. I was entering my 40’s this year. I wanted to reflect the image of Fit, Black, Wife, Mother, and Businesswoman. To be truthful, I wanted to look better naked!
I didn’t give up because I want to live, and I want to be wealthy. I know for a fact that health equals wealth. I also want and need more money. Honestly, my husband is one of the top Celebrity Personal Trainers in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, and I couldn’t make him look bad. That feeling turned into pressure, but then it transformed into motivation because we have clients that are in the gym daily. Their journeys let me know that I can do it too.
How did you change your eating habits?
My husband, Tyson the Transformer, put me on the same program as our clients. His Top Mantra is, “Dial-in. No butter. No salt. No sugar”. Basically, my food routine was as follows:
- BREAKFAST – Egg white omelet with spinach.
- LUNCH – Chicken, fish, turkey and all the veggies I want
- DINNER – Protein meal replacement shake
- DRINKS – Water, water and more water
- No Restaurants, no Drive-Thrus, and no eating after 8 pm.
This regimen was perfect because it cleaned me out thoroughly. Now I am regular with my bowel movements. I wake up feeling light and tight. I rarely have migraines and stomach pains.
My food choices before my husband cleaned up my eating habits were sodium and sugar-filled. I would cook healthy food, but I drowned it in seasoning, sauce, or butter, so my cholesterol and blood pressure were high. When I started using this healthy routine, I suffered from hunger pangs and sugar cravings. I was given a cheat tool: Dentyne Cinnamon gum. It knocks the cravings right out. I also had to talk to myself a lot. I had to get used to being gentle with the salt shakers. Initially, all of this was very tough because it seems like you are eating the same thing over and over. So, I started googling healthy meal ideas, and I was able to get creative.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My trainer/husband trained me five days a week, and I took part in a boot camp on Saturdays. This lasted for several months. At the time, I’d just delivered my newborn, and my children were starting school, so I couldn’t get to the gym anymore. OMG, What was I to do? I couldn’t get to a gym, nor could I afford to pay an extra $30 for childcare at a gym.
I slept on it, and I was able to continue my weight loss journey by creating “CARDIO CARDS, The Personal Pocket Trainer.” It is 54 Illustrated exercise cards that give you the reps and sets in each deck. I basically created a work out in a box . After creating Cardio Cards, I was able to do my workout anywhere. The cards are designed to take 30 to 60 minutes to complete, and you can work out with a buddy or family.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was a chunky 228.2 pounds. My current weight is 165 pounds. I’ve lost a total of 63.2 pounds (after my 5th pregnancy).
What is your height?
I am 5 feet and 8 inches tall.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
My OB/GYN cleared me in January 2019. It took close seven months to lose 62 pounds. I usually drop about 80 pounds in 11 months after each pregnancy. This was my 5th pregnancy and has taken the longest to get it together.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I didn’t get weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
- I learned about my body, what it likes and dislikes.
- I learned that I am lactose intolerant and that I bloat if I eat starches and carbs.
- I learned that I retain water if I eat too much salt.
- I learned that when I eat late and then go to sleep, I perform poorly the next day.
- I learned the true symmetry of my body and that I don’t look sickly because I’m getting lean.
- I’ve learned that I’m nicer and more helpful when I’m in shape than out of shape.
The other thing I learned about my body is that my husband likes it more. He is more aroused when I’m clothed or in my birthday suit. I learned new things in the bedroom that wouldn’t fly when I was 200 pounds.
On another note, I learned that people think you are something high and mighty when you are in shape and dressing your body in its true size.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Firstly, this is a journey all about self. Be as selfish as you can when you want to take control of your health. Because I’m the wife of a personal trainer, I have tons of advice to give:
- It’s I, then Me, then We. If I get Me together, then We all benefit.
- Regardless of the diet, show up to workout or get daily activity in.
- This is going to be the hardest thing you do in your life. Embrace that and get it done.

Hi Maria. Oh my. We have 3 clients that work graveyard shift and they have managed to lose over 100 pounds. Unfortunately you’re gonna have to dial in. Use the Cinnamon gum for cravings. I use Herbalife products and they have a herb called SNACK Defense for $30. This is small but could help…start eating your dinner at 8pm and drink water after that meal. This will make you feel full. If u must break..pop a few blueberries. Visit http://www.getcardiocards.com for work outs tou can do when time permits
