Weight Loss Story of the Day: Kristi lost 83 pounds. Inspired by the success stories of others and wanting to be happier with herself, she began her transformation journey in 2012. Now, she’s preparing to compete in her first Figure Competition. Here is what she shared with us about changing her life…
My Name is Kristi Roberts and I live in South Florida.
What was your motivation? My motivation was that I knew I did not want to be on Blood Pressure Pills anymore nor did I want to jump higher from my size 20 clothing to a size 22.
What inspired you? There were three inspirations; I started dating this guy who loved me just the way I was but I was not happy with myself and knew that I could never be secure dating him if I wasn’t happy with me. Also, I happen to see one of my favorite artists (Chaka Khan) drop weight and it inspired me to start my journey off as a vegan. Last but not least, a coworker that I was friends with had dropped about 90 plus pounds and he inspired me. I was like if he can do it, I can too.
How did you change your eating habits? I started off cutting out all meat and doing all low wheat carbs, and heavy on the veggies. I don’t eat red meat or pork anymore. I stick to chicken, fish and ground turkey now.
What did your workout routines look like? I started out by working out with my coworker at least 3 to 4 times a week at our work gym for lunch doing cardio, Calisthenics, and some weights. Then it went to 7 days a week. On the weekends I would go to the park to run and do other exercises. Later, I joined the gym and added more weights.
What was your starting weight? My heaviest I was 230 pounds.
What is your current weight? I am 147 pounds today.
What is your height? 5’3″
How long did your transformation take? I started my Transformation Journey in 2012 and still working on it. I am looking to compete in March 2015 in my first Figure Competition
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight? Stay Dedicated, Determined, and Motivated. There will be days that you want to give up because you don’t see any changes however, with all good things have patients and process and you will appreciate it much more. Also, don’t watch the scale because the numbers don’t mean anything but pay attention to your body and clothing sizes that you are now able to fit.
I am now an Insanity and Piyo instructor working towards my first Figure competition. I have a FB group that I send Daily motivation and workouts calls to. #TEAMGETRIGHT www.facebook.com/groups/WERTEAMGETRIGHT/
