Starting weight: 315 pounds
Current weight: 224 pounds
Height: 5’9″
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation is my children. During the quarantine, I decided that I needed to try something new to lose weight. So even when I wanted to give up, I couldn’t because I started to see results early.Â
How did you change your eating habits?
My boyfriend and I had been eating unhealthy food during our entire relationship. We tried diets, exercising and nothing worked. Then, he introduced me to the “lazy keto diet” in August 2020. Before that, I was trying to lose weight with little to no results.Â
You can’t escape carbs, but I limited my carb intake. I stopped eating sugar, bread, fried food, pasta, and potatoes. If there was something I loved, I would see if I could make it with keto products. I substituted wheat flour with almond flour, sweetener for my coffee with skinny syrup and learned many delicious keto recipes.
What is your workout routine?
I work out 3-5 days a week, depending on my time. I do 30 minutes of cardio (elliptical, treadmill, etc.), battle ropes, weight lifting, squats, and riding my bike. Now that the weather is permitting, I am running and walking with my 7-month-old Belgian Malinois.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
My original journey began in October 2019. My keto journey began in August 2020. My transformation took a year and five months.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery is not on my agenda. However, I believe that once I’m down to where I want to be, I can tone and tighten as I go.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned is Keto works for me. I have more energy, and I can outrun both my daughters. I am running more on the treadmill and with my dog. I feel amazing.Â
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
You have to find out what works best for you and grind it out! Start small. If you are working out with your husband/boyfriend, don’t be discouraged because men lose weight faster.Â
Also, your success is YOURS, and other people’s success is theirs. So don’t ever compare your weight loss journey to someone else’s. That will discourage you.
