Transformation of the Day: Korie lost 111 pounds. Her motivation came from seeing the how weight-related illnesses had affected her family. She made a vow to her grandmother that she would eat clean, exercise, release the weight and keep it off. She kept her promise and her hard work paid off. Check out her awesome story.
What was yoru motivation?
My motivation for losing weight was my family. A lot of people in my family are overweight and suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other weight-related ailments. My grandmother inspired me throughout the entire process. She didn’t want me to suffer from the same ailments she suffered from. I vowed to change my eating habits, exercise, lose weight and keep it off. Unfortunately, she passed away a month ago from congestive heart failure brought on by her poor diet and not exercising.
How did you change your eating habits?
I began my journey by eating clean. Most of my diet was (and still is) fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and grains. I eat meat only on cheat days, if I’m in the mood to but that’s rarely. I’m vegetarian except on cheat day when I indulge in the occasional burger or slice of pepperoni pizza. I stopped eating junk foods though. Some of my favorite junk foods were chips, pizza, hot dogs, cosmic brownies, doughnuts and food from Sonic Drive-in, McDonald’s and Jack in the Box. I didn’t use any meal plans or programs. I just ate clean and worked out.
What did your workout routines look like?
I worked out 5-7 days a week for 1-2 hours a day and I still do. I do at least 45 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 240lbs and my current weight is 129lbs. My height is 5’1″.
How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in 2014. My transformation took about 7 months. I did not have weight loss surgery. I did it the old fashion way.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
My advice to others who would like to lose weight is find some good motivation, good running shoes, good music, and start your journey. Write your goals down, make them known to the universe, and always keep them in mind while working out so you maintain focus. Find some friends to workout too! Working out with friends can help all of you to stay focused and having friends around who can relate makes everything so much easier and more fun.
