Let’s show some love to Kitamu on her 67 pound weight loss. She has gone from 415 pounds to 348 pounds. Her motivation was being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
“I’m 30 years old and I’ve lost a total of 67 pounds. I started at 415 pounds and I’m currently at 348 pounds. I hope to lose a total of 175-180 lbs total. My motivation was after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I learned that a lot of things I ate caused PCOS symptoms like pelvis pain, missing periods and skin issues. However, it’s when I learned that all this weight could make me infertile, I didn’t want that to happen! I’m not ready for children yet, but I do want to have them.
I started slowly cutting things out like ice cram and replacing them with healthier alternatives like frozen yogurt. Candy bars I cut out completely. Fried foods and coffee I have limited as well.
My current workout routine is a 30 minute uphill walk 5 days a week and I add yoga when I can. I plan to start a new gym membership next month.

Very inspirational. I am 33 and I have had PCOS since puberty. I didn’t know what it was or what it could do to my health until I was in my late 20s. I have been struggling to get this weight off…I even have a Lap Band and I still haven’t managed to lose much weight. If you can do it without a lap band or gym membership, so can I! Keep up the good work! PS I thought I wasn’t going to be able to have kids too, or that I would at least need fertility drugs, but surprisingly before I got my Lap Band I found out I was pregnant! It will happen for you too.

How long did it take you?
Kitamu Latham-Sampier says
It was over the course of a year and a half. Started slowly, but I focused on how I was feeling versus counting the pounds.

Thank you so much for sharing. I have PCOS too and started my journey for the same reason, being pre diabetic and possibly infertile hurt my heart. Especially since I was 21. I have been on a weight loss journey for a year only taking medications the 1st 2 month then after that all on my own in down 63 lbs now but no matter what I do sometimes I lose nothing so I decided to get back on the medications to help speed the process and though im still heavy starting at 350 and now 287. At 22 my blood pressure is better, my periods are regular, im no longer pre diabetic and i’m all around a different person. This is very inspiring you are amazing and look amazing and I hope you feel beyond amazing. Good luck and keep up the great work !!

That’s wonderful keep up the good work. I have a 17 yr old daughter that was diagnosed at 16 with PCOS. Are there any suggestions anyone can give to help her with this. The meds she was given made her sick and they wanted to try birth control but I decided against that. Her periods are all over the place. She has been on the step team since she was a freshman so she does exercise and we are working on the diet. She doesn’t eat alot of junk but at times she may go without eating if she is tired. Whatever advise will be appreciated. Thanks All….
