What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? I was motivated by my mother, who lost 40 lbs after dealing with some health concerns. Her success was motivating because it made me realize that weight loss is possible with hard work and discipline.
Also, the pandemic gave me more clarity on the goals I want to reach and the decisions I want to make in my life. Losing weight has been one of those for years! I kept going because I wanted myself and my family to be healthy. Plus, I want to look and feel my personal best!
How did you change your eating habits? I started with Weight Watchers, which really helped me become more aware of the type of foods I consume and held me accountable for when I was snacking needlessly. After a while, I started monitoring my own food intake. I limited fast food and sugary drinks. I also paid more attention to serving sizes.
What is your workout routine? It varies so I don’t get bored! Generally, I work out in the gym, take a class, or walk on a trail in my neighborhood.
How often did you work out? I just completed a 30-day daily cardio challenge in June. But generally, I just do 3-4 days of physical activity.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight? I started at 215 pounds. I’m at 190 pounds now, but my goal is 165 lbs. I’m hoping this is just the beginning!
What is your height? I am 5’4″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? No.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take? I started this journey at the end of August 2021, so this took about eight months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? Nutrition is important. It sounds so annoyingly cliche, but I noticed when I eat more veggies and healthier foods, the scale moves quicker, I feel fuller after eating, and I genuinely feel better.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight? Track time, not the scale. In the past, I set unattainable goals and quit when I didn’t reach them. This time, I focused more on sticking to the plan over a specific length of time, and the pounds came off little by little.
