Transformation of the Day: Kimm lost 44 pounds. When one of her photography clients offered to give her waist beads, she almost turned her down. Ultimately, she found wearing waist beads to track progress incredibly motivating. Intermittent fasting was also key to her success.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My before photo was my motivation. The day I took my before photo, I’d just gotten my waist beads tied as a gift for shooting one of my photography clients that owned a waist bead studio. What cracks me up now is that I tried to turn down her tying my strands. The waist beads are 100% the reason I continued my weight loss.
During the first three months of my weight loss journey, I only lost 8 lbs, but my beads had dropped so significantly that I kept going.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started doing intermittent fasting coupled with keto. I downloaded the “Simple App” and adopted the fasting window of 18:6. I did all my eating between the hours of 1 pm and 7 pm. I started making my own bone broth, and that’s how I broke my 18-hour fast daily. I also used JJ’s Liver Focus to help with my weight loss.
What is your workout routine?
During this year of weight loss, I only worked out during the Lent holiday season (4-5 days a week for 40 days). I did the treadmill on an incline of 12, with a speed of 3, for 30 minutes.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 273 pounds, and my current weight is 229 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started this weight loss journey on November 12, 2021, and I am still on my weight loss journey. My photos are exactly one year apart. (11/21-11/22)
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? No
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Stay off the scale and get you some beads. Waist beads changed my entire view on weight loss. Also, I wish I’d known about intermittent fasting a long time ago. It’s the easiest thing I’ve ever committed to.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t give up. I know we see and hear people say this all the time, but seriously, don’t! A year will go by regardless, so be your best self during that time. Nothing tastes as good as you want to look. I used to say all the time: “It’s hard.” No, it’s not hard. Losing my dad seven years ago was hard. Having coffee with no sugar is not hard. Not eating cake, that’s not hard. Walking up stairs isn’t hard. You can do this. Change your mindset and commit to YOURSELF.
