Update 2017: It’s been a year since we featured her story and Kimberly has kept the weight off. She’s lost 40 more pounds for a total of 87 pounds gone.
Weight Loss Journey: Kimberly lost 47 pounds. Her goal was to lose the weight before she turned 40. She’s made tremendous progress by adopting healthier eating habits and doing lots of exercise. Check out what she shared.
My name is Kimberly C. and I am 40 years old. I decided to take control of my life and set a goal of losing weight before reaching my 40th birthday. I started my journey in May 2015 at 294 pounds (height: 5’5″). As of today, I weigh 247 pounds.
I began by riding on bike trails and I committed myself to exercising daily at the gym. Now, I do Zumba twice a week and line dancing. In the gym, I use the stationary bike and the elliptical machine. I recently started weight training as well.
I cut out sodas, red meat, bread and sugar. I drink only water and green tea. I eat my meals before 8 pm and I watch my portion sizes. I also bake or grill my food instead of frying. Once in a while, I treat myself and have a special meal.
My advice to others is to stay persistent. Don’t give up when you don’t see instant results. I take pictures of myself often so that I can see the difference. This motivates me to keep going.
My real inspiration comes from seeing BWLW post stories and noticing how easy it is to change your lifestyle. It is very inspiring to see other people’s journeys. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m working to get there. My first goal was losing 50 pounds. Now, I’ve set a new goal to lose 60 pounds and that will put me at 187 pounds.
