Transformation of the Day: Kim lost over 40 pounds by exercising regularly and embracing healthy eating habits. No more feeling tired or being out of breath. She is curvy, healthy and proud. Check out her journey.
What was your motivation?
I began my journey in the summer of 2014. I was tired of feeling tired and being out of breath after walking up the stairs to my reach my apartment. On the rough days, I was often inspired by seeing other women’s success stories on blackweightlosssuccess.com
How did you change your eating habits?
I’ve enjoyed tweeking my eating habits and find that the 80/20 diet lifestyle really works for me. I cut out junk food, which was a big weakness, and began eating a lot of fruits and vegetables daily. I also cut my portion sizes down tremendously which helped me get the weight off and keep it off.
What is your exercise routine?
I’ve maintained the weight loss by exercising for a minimum of 3 days a week, every week. However, I usually workout 5 to 6 days a week. My workouts consisted mostly power walking and jogging. Over the past 6 months, I’ve started focusing on strength training twice a week, and I’m seeing positive results from that change.
Starting weight/Current weight
I’m curvy and proud. My starting weight was 227 pounds at 5’7″. My lowest weight, in the second year of this journey, was 177 pounds. Now, I’m happily at 185 pounds. I don’t focus on my weight that much now, because I’ve started weight training.
What advice would you share with other people who want to lose weight?
I would encourage anyone who wants to shed some weight to study nutrition, find exercises that work for you and go for it. You can do it!
