Weight Loss Success Story of the Day: Kim lost 95 pounds. Participating in motivational weight loss contests and going to bible study were major factors in her success. She is still on her journey and training to do even more to help herself and others reach their weight loss and health goals. Here is what she shared with us…
I began my weight loss journey about six years ago. My co-worker challenged me to join the gym. We had both gained a considerate amount of weight eating junk foods while working our desk jobs. There was a competition beginning at the gym at the time we joined. It was a 8 week competition to see who could lose the most weight. I won by losing 20 pounds. In doing so I learned about eating six small meals a day and exercising. Unfortunately, I took a fall on the ice during the winter and injured my foot. Subsequently, I slowly stopped going to the gym and gained all the weight back I had lost.
Two years ago, I joined a bible study at my church dealing with getting your body right for GOD. This also had a competition in which I lost 26 pounds in 12 weeks and I won. Since then I’ve lost 95 pounds and I’m going strong. My dress size was 26 and I just recently put on a size 16. I still have a longer journey to go but I’m motivated daily by my circle of friends.
I went from eating hot dogs in the microwave to having grilled chicken salads. My eating habits changed during a clean eating challenge called Unprocessed October. I went from a couch potato to an athlete. I’m currently in training to be an aerobics instructor with an upstart aerobics organization. My starting weight was 325.6 pounds and I’m 230 pounds as of right now. (height is 5’8″.) My advice to others would be to find your true reason of losing weight. Once I began honoring God through two bible studies, BOD4GOD and Treasures of Healthy Living, I got so much energy and was able to do more. I’ve run my first 5k, take a bootcamp once a week, go line dancing once a week, and I’m currently training for a 10k.
It was an honor to be tagged by my friend Melissa and asked to share my story. My Instagram is @bodybyboddie.
