Transformation of the Day: Kieana lost 94 pounds by changing her eating habits and dancing for exercise. She started her journey after losing her mom to Cervical Cancer and her sister to violence in 2018. While working through depression and grief, she created a healthier lifestyle.
When did your transformation begin?
I lost my mom to Cervical Cancer in August 2018. Then, my sister got killed in front of the police just two days after Christmas 2018. My life really changed. I cut my hair in January 2019, and I haven’t looked back since. The journey was hard, but I was also going through depression at the time, so I barely noticed the weight loss.
I made a drastic lifestyle change, but it’s not over. I’m still transforming every day.
What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was looking in the mirror and not being happy with myself. My inspiration to not give up came from setting goals for myself and looking at other women and wishing for/wanting their bodies.
How did your eating habits change?
Throughout 2019, I was barely eating. My appetite changed A LOT. I cut back on soda and juice. I drink water instead (sometimes sweet tea, lol). I cut out greasy and fried foods. I mainly eat baked and grilled foods now.
What is your workout routine?
I danced for exercise, believe it or not. I also did a couple of jumping jacks and sit-ups. Sometimes, I ran up and down my stairs in my house, but mainly I danced.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 257 pounds. I’m proud to say that my current weight is 163 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
NOPE, NO SURGERY AT ALL. Just sweat and hard work.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Never give up. With patience, faith, and God, anything is possible. Now, I want to be an inspiration to the beautiful women out there who want to have a healthier and happier lifestyle.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Stick to it. It may be hard, but you have to have patience. If you can’t do 20 jumping jacks, that’s okay. Don’t be hard on yourself because eventually, you will be doing 40.

Congratulations! I definitely can relate to looking at others and wanting the same for myself. I’m in the trenches now and very determined to get it done once and for all! Again, job well done!
