Transformation of the Day: Kia lost 61 pounds by changing her mindset, eating whole, healthy food, and working out consistently. She knew that her goals would not become a reality if she didn’t take action and take control of her life. Check out her journey.
What was your motivation?
I became more aware of everything I did NOT want. This realization made me work on myself. I knew that being unhappy was hard, and losing weight was hard, but I had to CHOOSE my hard. The funny thing is that once I changed my mindset, it no longer seemed impossible.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started by doing JJ Smith’s green smoothie cleanse. The cleanse taught me about the importance of fresh leafy greens and fruit. From there, I stopped eating fast food. As far as meat, I only eat fish and sometimes boneless, skinless chicken breast. I do not eat any other meat. I incorporate superfoods, leafy greens, fruit, and lots of water into my meals/everyday life. I believe these foods feed my mind, as well. Whole Foods has become my best friend throughout this journey.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I love to lift. I do a lot of squats, weight lifting, work on the stair master, workouts with resistance bands, and using the incline on the treadmill. I work out 4-5 times a week, and I noticed results when I became consistent!
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 238 pounds. My current weight is 177 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’3″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in Spring 2017. My transformation took about two years. I started and stopped many times.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson is that I am the captain of my own ship. I can dream about it all day, but it will never come to fruition unless I DO IT! I will never forget how to love myself again.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
It is essential to be in tune with yourself. Don’t rush your journey. Just ride the wave and take in everything that you learn, whether you pass or fail. A failed mission is also a learned mission. My journey helped me to open my spiritual side and learn what love truly is. I now know how to love myself properly, and with that knowledge, I can properly love others! Don’t forget to LEARN and LISTEN along your journey. Most of all, Don’t Quit!
