Khyla lost 29 pounds. This mom wanted her children to see her working hard and know that they reach any goal they set out to achieve. Clean eating, HIIT workouts, and weight training worked for her.
What was your motivation?
My children. I wanted them to see how hard mommy works. I wanted them to know that whatever in this world they want to do, they can do. They can reach their goals just by giving 110% and staying completely committed.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my portion sizes. I was always someone who ate large portions. Also, I cut out red meat and pork. I started meal prepping and eating very clean. When I say clean, I mean lean meat, a few carbs, and a lot of green veggies. I cut out all juice and sugars. I also tried to aim for a gallon of water a day.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you workout?
I began working out two times a day, five days a week in a boot camp. At the boot camp, the workouts were mostly HIIT workouts, which I loved. However, I felt that I needed to be lifting more weights, so I started going to a gym six days a week. One day, I’d focus on my upper body, and the next day I would do lower body. I just went back and forth between the upper and lower body with about 20-25 minutes of cardio per workout.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 192 pounds, and my current weight is 163 pounds.
What is your height?
5 feet, 8 inches
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my weight loss journey in October 2018. Toward the middle of March 2019, I stopped. I really got discouraged and was stuck in doubt and fear while dealing with postpartum depression. Then, in November 2019, I got myself to that point where I felt it was a must to get back on track with my health and fitness. I am very much still on my transformation journey today. I’m trying to better myself every day.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, but I have thought about getting extra skin removed if I have any.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned to show myself that I am capable. When things get hard and tough, work through it. The pain is temporary, but the results are life-changing. I showed myself that I am stronger than I think mentally and physically.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Be consistent!
Don’t compare yourself to people on social media.
Don’t rush it. Be patient with your body.
