Transformation of the Day: Kennetha lost 56 pounds, going from a size 24/26 to a size 18. This single mom is forty plus and fab and longer taking pills for diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure. She found the medical advice she needed, cut her calories and began exercising every day. Check out her story.
My name is Kennetha W. I am a 42 year old single mother of two children. I started this journey 4 years ago. I tried working out but for some reason it never worked. I tried diet pills. I’ve tried not eating. Then, I tried God! He sent me to the right doctors office and they helped me to go from 327 pounds to 271 pounds today. (Height: 6 feet tall)
I try to consume no more than 1500 calories. I changed my eating habits by taking away breads, soda and not eating after 8 p.m. I begin to walk 2 miles every morning, every day, to get my heart rate up and to make my heart stronger. I begin to do small exercises in my home, Since my weight was so heavy it was hard to go to the gym and other workout facilities. I would take 3 pound weights, sit in a chair and do arm lifts for at least 100 reps with only a 30 second break in between each.
My doctors offered to give me weight loss pills, such as Adipex and garcinia ginkoba. The Adipex did not work well for me, because of my high blood pressure problems. Therefore I did the garcinia ginkoba instead. The garcinia ginkoba is an appetite suppressant in the cleanse that my doctor gave me, as well as a toxin remover (quite pricey but works very well). Now once a week, I drink detox water which which I make from different types of fruit placed in water. I let it sit overnight and drinking it during the day it helps keep my system flushed out. I’m not tired, groggy or sluggish.
The journey is not over to me. It has only just begun. My life has changed for the better and I’m having so much fun, I have more energy and I sleep better. Not only that, but I am no longer on Metformin for diabetes. I also am no longer on Lisinopril, which is a high blood pressure medicine and no longer taking high cholesterol medicine. Not having to take the 3 pills of death every day feels great. I no longer have frequent urination problems and my joints do not hurt as bad. I am not as angry as my children have said I was.
Weight loss is a journey. It is something that you have to do on a daily basis. It takes time discipline and determination. Black women,We can do this. Just like we put on the weight, we can take it off. Yes it is more difficult, but the victory in it all is the great success of having a long healthy life.
