Transformation of the Day: Kelli lost 27 pounds. Two years after giving birth to her son, she was still struggling with her weight. This Delta Sigma Theta soror realized that what worked in the past wasn’t working for her now. She figured out what works for her now, in terms of healthy eating habits and exercise, and she put in the work.
For almost two years after giving birth to my son, I have struggled with
losing weight. Nothing I did worked, even the methods that used to work. I had to completely reapproach the way I wanted to go about losing weight. I joined a gym and started working out hard. I also started eating clean, calculating my macronutrients, and doing intermittent fasting, which kickstarted my weight loss.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? Honestly, I felt super depressed and disgusting. I hated the way I looked and felt. I knew I could make a change, and so I kept going. I never missed a Monday!
How did you change your eating habits?
I try to eat clean all week. I also try to eat lean meat, veggies, fruit, and healthy fats, carbs, and proteins. I don’t cut food groups out, but I do practice intermittent fasting.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I workout 4-5 times a week for at least 45 minutes doing cardio and light weight training. I also do HIIT and strength training. I work out at the UFC Gym Waikele in Hawaii where I take their Daily Ultimate Training and TRX classes.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 176 pounds, and my current weight is 149 pounds.
What is your height?
5’5″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in April 2019. It took a little over two months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned that everyone’s weight loss journey is different.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Please don’t give up. Be consistent, and do what works for you! Everyone’s journey is unique to their body! Be encouraged, Beautiful!
