Transformation of the Day: Kelli lost 115 pounds. After her marriage ended, this mother of five decided to get serious about releasing the weight. Keto, cardio and self-love was the perfect combination for her.
What was your motivation?
I just recently separated from a toxic relationship with my husband due to both of us having toxic ways. I’d lost who Kelli was and was very depressed. I had been trying to lose weight during my marriage, but the stress of life made it very difficult. After separating from my husband, I began to learn to love myself.
How did you change your lifestyle?
I weighed 305 pounds at 5’4″ due to stress eating. I knew that when I looked in the mirror, I didn’t like what I saw, so I started the Keto diet. I combined that with light cardio, doing two-mile walks at home or on the treadmill.
It took me a year to lose 115 pounds. My current weight is 190 pounds, and I hope to lose 40 more pounds. Now, I am more in love with myself cause I like what I see in the mirror, outwardly and inwardly. I did a lot of soul searching just to become a happy, healthier me.
Any time I want to accomplish something, I think of the last thing I accomplished and apply those same skills. After having five kids, I went back to school, getting my bachelor’s and my master’s degrees. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. So, I managed to master the skill of just focusing, even while life is hard. I was also homeless with four children (sleeping from couch to couch) when I started my weight loss journey. Although life around me was not great, I managed to drink apple cider vinegar every morning, stay under 20 grams of carbs a day and walk for 2 miles using YouTube videos.
I started in January 2019 and lost 100 pounds by November 2019. I have transitioned to lazy keto and lost an additional 15 pounds. I want to lose 40 more lbs, and I plan to add weight lifting to tighten my skin.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Never settle, live on purpose, and love yourself first.
What advice would you like to share?
My advice to anyone who wants to start a weight loss journey is to remove the stressors, love yourself first and know that if you can see it, you can obtain it.
