Transformation of the day: Keaundra lost 80 pounds. Intermittent fasting, eating Keto meals, reading transformation stories and doing lots of exercise produced great results. During this journey, she experiencd a number of storms, including the passing of her beloved mother, but she learned how to keep fighting no matter what. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
My motivation throughout my journey has always been God, myself, family, and friends. I chose to love myself. I was determined not to let myself down – no matter how many times I “failed”. When I wanted to give up, I thought about how far I’ve came and how I am one step closer to my goal. I also gave myself permission to press the reset button on my weight loss journey. I spoke encouraging words to myself and prayed. I was also inspired by many support groups/pages that I joined, including Black Women Losing Weight. Once I saw how others were overcoming their roadblocks, I decided to follow in their footsteps.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cutting back on sweets (carbs). I went to see a nutritionist and learned that I respond best to ketogenic-friendly meals (low carb, high fat). Currently, do intermittent fasting (IF), so my meals sometimes consist of non-ketogenic foods.
What did your workout routine look like? How often did you workout?
Initially, my workout routine consisted of bicycling, long walks, and running for five minutes on the treadmill. Now, I focus my routine on weight lifting and strength training. I workout out 3-4 times a week and do little quick exercise routines in my home throughout the day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 220 pounds. My current weight is 140 pounds and my height is 5’2″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on February 12, 2016. It took until November 7, 2017 to reach my first goal weight: 150 pounds (70lbs lost).
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I faced a lot of “storms” throughout my journey. The most recent one was the untimely death of my mother – after she was murdered by her husband. I thought about where I was at in my life and how I was on a journey to improving myself. I cried constantly some nights because I wanted to give up so bad. I wanted to soak in my sadness, but I kept fighting. So, the biggest lesson for me was learning how to keep fighting no matter the circumstances surrounding me.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
Love yourself first and don’t be afraid to walk in your truth. Self-love truly is the best love. The only way someone will be able to get through their journey is by committing to taking care of themselves.

Amazing transformation. You are still beautiful in both pictures. We need to love ourselves first to start seeing these changes. Congratulations once again.
