Transformation of the Day: Kaylen lost 127 pounds with Keto and lots of exercise. She adhered to a specific carb limit and tracked her food intake to get results.
My name is Kaylen, and I am currently 21 years of age. I am also 127 pounds down from my highest weight of 360 pounds, leaving me at 233 pounds. I am 6 feet tall, so my weight is evenly distributed. I did everything 100 percent natural, no surgery or anything like that.
My journey started one year after I completed high school. I was not happy with my body, and I felt that it hindered me, especially with me being so young. I was hearing about the Keto diet constantly, so I sat down and did some research. I also talked to people who did the Keto diet already.
From there, I started constructing meal plans. I weighed all of my food, and I logged everything I ate. I also set a very strict carb limit for myself at 25g of carbs a day. I avoided cheat meals and cheat days for the first five months.
After month three, I started working out with a trainer at least 4-6 days a week. My trainer mainly worked on cardio and bodyweight exercises with me. I was scared of weights, so we stayed away from them for a while. However, now I am hitting the weights without a problem. I also attended HIIT workout classes at my gym when I didn’t work out with my trainer. I went swimming frequently, as well.
I started my journey on July 16th, 2018, and I am still going today. Following my plan and remaining dedicated brought me to my current healthy state. I want to reach my goal weight of 200 pounds soon, so I plan to keep working at it.
These are the things I learned on my journey, and this would be my advice to anyone who wants to lose weight.
- Start when you are 100 percent ready.
- Don’t compare your journey to others.
- Realize what may have worked for someone else may not work for you.
The best advice I have: Remain dedicated.

Your story is so motivating. I started 15 days ago and I am down 14 lbs. I cut out sweets(desserts and sodas), meats and limiting my carbs to brown rice and red potatoes twice a week. I am super excited to get back into the gym on next week.

Kaylen, I am super proud of your results. I also agree with your comments about not comparing yourself to other people. I tried doing that and it only brought me disappointment. I too have to lose 100 + pounds so that in itself helps me to see that this will be a lifestyle change, but I am up for the challenge. I was definitely encouraged by your story.
