Transformation of the Day: Kayla lost 94 pounds. She’s been on a weight loss journey most of her adult, but last year she truly committed and had VSG surgery. This proud nurse is on a mission to enjoy a healthy life and not let all of her hard work go to waste.
My name is Kayla, and I just turned 30. I’ve lost 94 pounds, and I’m working on losing a total of 100 pounds by the end of the year.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was a desire to enjoy life and not always be worried about my weight stopping me. I kept going even when I wanted to give up because I refused to let all my hard work go to waste and disappoint the people who believe in me.
When did you start?
I’ve been on this journey most of my adult life, but it wasn’t until last year that I really committed. It took me a little over a year to get to where I currently am.
Is weight loss surgery part of your weight loss journey?
Yes, I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy on August 26, 2019.
How did you change your eating habits?
I cut out carbs for the most part, as well as dairy and most grains. I try to get in at least a half-gallon of water daily. Also, I focus on getting 60-100 grams of protein each day. I don’t follow any specific diet or count calories. I just listen to my body.
What does your workout routine consist of?
I try to work out at least five days a week. I currently do at-home workouts using Beachbody on demand. My workouts consist of HIIT, and I will be starting some boot camp classes. In addition, I always run 2-3 miles 2-3 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 232 pounds, and my current weight is 138 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’1″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that you have to do what is best for you and your health and not let other people’s opinions stop you. Listen to your body and treat your body with the respect it deserves.
