What was your motivation?
My motivation was seeing myself in a video of myself on my birthday in September 2019. I looked at myself, and I was like, “I will be dead soon if I don’t love myself enough to fix me.”
I started by putting positive affirmations all over my home with sticky notes. Soon after, I began making better choices for myself. I had tried losing weight many times before, but this time was different. I was determined and set realistic short-term goals for my journey.
What detoured me before was working out. It was just incredibly boring. So this time, I did not focus on workouts. Instead, I focused on my food intake.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started by substituting “bad foods” with “good foods” and drinking my favorite tea only with meals and only one 8oz cup. Other than that, I only drank water.
My weakness is cupcakes and cookies; in the past, I ate two cupcakes every day. So I took one away during the first week of my journey. The next week, I would literally buy a cupcake, split it in half, throw half of it away, and then eat the other half. Eventually, I wasn’t interested in eating them anymore because I was starting to see results. Once you see results, you get more energetic and determine to do the right thing.
What was your workout routine?
Remember, I’m still not working out. During my journey, I wanted “bad foods” I would still eat them, but only in small amounts just to satisfy my desire. For me, this helped with not feeling like I was dieting.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 360 pounds. Now I weigh 242 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’9″ in height.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. I have not had any surgeries, but I plan to.
How long did your transformation take?
It took me about seven months to get to where I am now. I had not continued until now due to life situations, but I am determined to reach my goal weight of 190 pounds by the summer. I have now incorporated fun workouts into my journey. (kickboxing and swimming)
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I have learned that only you can stop you.
What advice would you like to share with people who want to lose weight?
Accountability and discipline are keys to any success you desire. YOU CAN DO IT!

Great story! I do recommended from another person who is the same shape and height, when you do workout, do weight training twice as much as cardio (but still cardio for heart health). The results will be amazing!
