Update: Shout out to Kacheckia! 125+ pounds gone.
Tranformation of the Day: Kacheckia lost 102 pounds. She is a teacher, a preacher, a military spouse, and a mom of 3. She lost both parents to health complications and doesn’t want to leave her loved ones with the kind of pain she endured after that loss. Check out how she transformed her lifestyle.
What was your motivation?
I am motivated by several things in my life. My mom and dad died young. My dad was 49 years old and my mom was 54 years old. Both died from complications with their health. They were not great at managing their health, and I was taught many of the same habits. I always dreamed of them sitting on the back porch, watching my children play in the backyard. They never got that chance, so that dream became the catalyst for me and my husband to get healthier so we could be here for our future grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After having a baby at 40 years old, watching him grow and finding it harder to keep up with him, I knew I had to change my life. My family has inspired me to keep going when I want to give up. My husband and older children know my new way of eating almost better than I do. They keep me moving in the right direction when those tough times come.
The scariest type of motivation I received was a dream I had. I saw myself pass out in the street and watching myself, I felt helpless. When the paramedics arrived to rescue me, I could tell that I was near death. As the paramedic kneeled down to help me, I sat up, looked at myself and said, “Save yourself.” As I woke, I knew change was inevitable or I was going to die. I started my journey a couple of days later. I lost 37 pounds in about 8 weeks, all while celebrating birthdays, anniversary, vacations, etc. Then, my cousin joined me and became my biggest motivator as he lost 100 lbs in 4 months! He encouraged me and kept me going. He’s long off the program, but maintains very well. He still calls me weekly to inspire and motivate me.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by using the Omnitrition Omni Drop plan. [A very low calorie diet plan with homeopathic drops.] I cut refined sugars and starches from my diet for weeks at a time. Between those weeks, when I’m not on the supplements, I can have refined sugars and starches, but I typically chose to eat clean (no refined sugars, starches, or processed foods.) I do eat out, but rarely. I prep my food so that I don’t feel like I have to eat something that I could do without. I pack healthy snacks, like almonds and apples. I also use sea salt instead of iodized salt, and omit refined sugar. I substitute SweetLeaf Stevia for sugar, but I rarely crave sugar. I’ve had the same 70 count SweetLeaf Stevia box since March 2017. (It’s December 2017 now!) I always drink at least a gallon of water each day.
What did your workout routine look like?
I lost the weight without exercise. I plan to incorporate exercise in 2018.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight in March 2017 was 322.6 pounds. My highest weight was 346 pounds in March 2015. My current weight is 220.4 pounds. My height is 5’8″.
How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on March 1, 2017. I lost the first 100 pounds by November 4, 2017. I am starting the plan again (December 31st) as I plan to lose an additional 50-55 pounds.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that I am worth it. I am in control of what I eat. I am a teacher by profession, a preacher by calling, a military spouse, and a mom of 3. I should take care of myself as much as I take care of all of those people depending on me. Who’s going to do it when I’m gone? I’m certain someone could, but I don’t want to leave my loved ones with the pain I’ve endured after losing my parents. I’m going to be healthier and fitter. I will teach my children and my husband how to be healthy and fit too.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
You are worth it. You can do it. Find someone to join you on the journey, it helps to have a motivator.
