Transformation of the Day: Ju-Kenya lost 125 pounds by putting in lots of work at the gym and becoming a Vegan. Now, she has her emotional eating in check, and she is reaping the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came one night when I thought that I was having a heart attack.
What inspires you to keep going, even when you want to give up?
When I look back at myself at 305 pounds, that inspires me not to quit.
How did you change your eating habits?
For 30 days, I ate no red meat or fried foods. Six months later, I became a vegan. I don’t eat anything with a face. No dairy, no fried foods, bread or sweets. Also, I drink only water.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I had a personal trainer for eight months. Then I started going to a fitness boot camp that I am presently still attending (I’m 1 year and 3 months in). I work out every day, sometimes 3 times a day.
What was your starting weight, and what is your current weight?
My starting weight was 305 pounds, and my current weight is 180 pounds.
What is your height?
5’6″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started on June 22, 2017. It’s been two years.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No weight loss surgery. No diet pills. Just discipline, determination, and a whole bunch of grinding.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Not to be an emotional eater.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Just know that it’s a marathon, not a sprint. If you stay consistent, you will get to the finish line. Do it for yourself. Silence all your excuses

Great story. I hope I can use this as motivation. I always start cutting back and drinking only water. It lasts for 2 months at the most. I don’t know what to do but thanks for sharing your story

I’ve been here for the entire journey this far, and i’ve heard her say “you don’t think I want a steak, I do, but I want to live more than I want that steak”. Anyone who knows her knows she use to love a good steak. To stay the course and not give in to temptation is my biggest admiration I have towards her. Proud of her is an understatement!!!👏🏼💪💜
