Transformation of the Day: Jonisha lost 103 pounds with good nutrition and exercise. She figured out how to maintain her success and keep the weight off for almost two years. With consistency and a healthy, balanced diet, she is winning.
I’m no stranger to Black Women losing weight’s page since you have shared my story before, but I wanted to share an update! I lost over 100 lbs naturally about 3/4 years ago and have kept my weight off since then! I don’t work out as much as I used to, but I definitely have a BALANCED diet!
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I remembered how tired and unhappy I was, and I do not want to go back there! My health inspired me to keep going because I never want to go back to being pre-diabetic!
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating pork and drinking soda! I have committed to a balanced diet. That means I eat whatever I want to eat but in moderation. My eating routine includes fruits, veggies, and LOTS of water!
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I used to work out about four times a week in the gym. However, I have not worked out in the gym in about eight months and have been able to maintain my weight loss by doing other activities such as skating!
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 272 pounds. My current weight is 169 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey about four years ago (2018/2019). My transformation took eight months.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, ALL NATURAL!!
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned on this journey is that it doesn’t take strenuous workouts to lose weight or keep the weight off! I also learned never to give up, and that consistency is key!
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Start your journey when you’re ready, and stay consistent! Find something active that you enjoy doing to make your workouts fun!
